  Please note:  Proposals submitted without following these guidelines will be returned to the author and will not be considered by the Rules Committee.

2008 AOSA Rules Change Proposals

The following table is a summary of the 27 proposals for changes or additions to the AOSA Rules for Testing Seeds that have been reviewed and approved by the Rules Committee for further consideration by the AOSA and SCST membership at the 2008 AOSA/SCST Annual Meeting.  Please note that “approved” does not mean that the Rules Committee or its members necessarily endorse these proposals.

To modify instructions listed in the ‘Additional Directions’ column of Table 3 (Methods of Testing for Laboratory Germination), and modify section 4.9 (Explanation of Table 3) accordingly.

To replace Table 8A (Maximum tolerated difference of noxious weed seeds) with tolerance table to identify when noxious weed seeds found in a second test is significantly higher than the first test (or label claim).  Includes a few editorial changes in Table 8B and related examples for both tables.

To add new TZ tolerance tables to Section 5. Tolerances.

To add information to Section 7 regarding Tetrazolium Testing to standardize sampling, testing and calculation of results, and improve understanding of tetrazolium testing.

How to Submit a Rule Change Proposal?
All rule change proposal forms must be submitted to the AOSA Rules Chair by October 15th for review by the Rules Committee.  After review, you may receive confirmation of acceptance by the Rules Committee for publication in the newsletter, or receive a request to amend your proposal and provide additional information for clarification, or the proposal may be rejected.

Who May Submit A Rule Change Proposal?
Rule change proposals must be sponsored either by an AOSA Laboratory, AOSA Committee, AOSA Subcommittee, or SCST Registered Member.

How to submit an AOSA Rules Change Proposal?
Rule change proposals must be submitted in electronic format (WordPerfect or MS Word) via e-mail or on diskette or CD to the AOSA Rules Chair.  Supporting evidence should also be submitted in an electronic format (WordPerfect, MS Word or MS Excel).  If an electronic version of supporting evidence is not possible please submit 12 hard copies.

The deadline for submission of proposals is October 15, 2007.  Proposals received after this date will not be considered.
