AOSA and SCST now charge $100 to post job announcements on both websites..  The job posting will run on both websites for 4 weeks.  After 4 weeks the job posting can be renewed for an additional month at the same rate of $100.00.

As an added bonus, if a job announcement has been requested prior to the publication of the current issue of The Seed Technologist Newsletter, jointly published by AOSA and SCST, the job announcement will be published in the Newsletter, giving the announcement more exposure.  Job announcements will also be included in the SCST monthly electronic newsletter Board Notes.

The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct germination testing following AOSA, ISTA and internal HM.Clause protocols for the evaluation of vegetable seed under controlled environments

  • Lead the testing program for all seed samples requiring performance evaluation in soil under controlled environment culture

  • Perform research to assist in the development of new methods to evaluate seed for vigor and germination under various stress environments

  • Implement new testing strategies, assure process control of tests and improve testing efficiency

  • Responsible for all formal training of personnel, internal and external comparative testing and review and evaluate test processes to assure all testing is accurate and consistent

  • Work with colleagues within the parent organization to collaborate on worldwide projects

  • Manage tests within a LIMS-based quality testing database

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree within one of the plant Biological Sciences required

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally

 Skills required:

  • Registered Seed Technologist (RST) certification (Tech- II level) or Certified Viability Technologist (CVT) certification (Tech -I level) required

  • Demonstrable experience in seed vigor stress testing

  • Comfortable working within a formal testing system governed by written protocols and ability to work well in a fast-paced, priority driven testing environment

  • Must comply with company safety rules
