Native Seed Quality Symposium

Producing, conditioning, testing, and marketing native seed involves a wide variety of unique challenges. Communication between stakeholders is vital to the development of solutions to the issues facing the native seed industry.

The Native Seed Quality Symposium planned for June 5th, 2007 in Cody, Wyoming provides an excellent forum for discussion and education on a variety of progressive topics.

The Morning Session will begin with speakers representing producers, conditioners, marketers and consumers participating in a panel discussion on seed testing issues. They will be followed by a panel of seed analysts and researchers who will provide their perspective on testing consistency issues including purity, germination, tetrazolium, and seed analysis reporting. The panel discussions will include remarks from participants followed by a question and answer period and wrap up.

The Afternoon Session will focus on current seed viability research and concerns relating to viability testing.

Tour and Dinner the symposium will conclude with a tour of native seed production fields and the University of Wyoming Research and Extension facility. Participants will have the opportunity to visit informally during the evening reception and picnic dinner.
